Are you called to farm?
Many Forks Farm is seeking an Assistant Grower for the 2022 season. If you have been working as a full-time apprentice or farm crew member for several years and want to find an opportunity to wear the many hats required to run a small vegetable farm, this could be a place for you. We have approximately 2 acres in production. The staff is small — the farmer, the Assistant Grower, and one-two part-timers. In this setting, you have the opportunity to do everything. There is the expectation that you participate in everything. This is a responsible position that demands taking on the realities of the moment, working past the clock when needs arise, while using good planning to keep those in check and not over work.
We are looking for someone who is ready and willing to put the needs of the farm at the top of their priorities, to structure personal and social life around the life of the farm during the growing season, understands that the ebb and flow of a vegetable farm is demanding, and is willing to share the responsibility of making the operation a success.
Housing on-site in a lovely farmhouse in addition to a salary commensurate with experience.
Expectations are extremely high for an ethic that incorporates the care of the land, the tools and materials we use, water use, and the farmhouse all as a part of a big picture commitment to conserving resources and the earth.
If you are interested in this position and feel you fit the parameters as stated above, and feel compatible with the approaches and commitments as described on the website, we invite you to submit your resume. Submit to: Sharon Wyrrick, Many Forks Farm LLC, 1360 River Road, Clarksburg, MA 01247. After reviewing your resume, the farmer will respond and suggest next steps as well as answer specific questions you may have about the farm and the position.
This position runs April 1 through the end of October. Being available for a second year is possible if desired by both parties and year-round housing may be available.
If the process moves forward, the hope is that you will come visit the farm in the course of the current season to get a better view of the challenges, possibilities, and strengths of our operations and our hopes and visions for the farm’s future!
