Seeking to work with a passionate farmer who loves growing vegetables with hand-tended, low-till, intensive methods. Ability to juggle the needs of and care for a wide range of vegetables, and endless enthusiasm for growing healthy food while cultivating relationships between community members and the farm. Seeking someone who is called to farm and looking for a place to apply their ingenuity, hard work, and love of caring for the land while creating a place of beauty for all to enjoy.
This is basically a two-person operation, the farmer/owner and the assistant farmer, with limited additional part-time and volunteer labor. This individual needs to be comfortable living and working in a small community, on a small operation of modest means, and with shared responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of two years full-time farming experience growing vegetables on a small scale. Experience in garden planning, budgeting, outreach/education, soil science, or other area of farm management or running a farm business is a plus. Ability to make an initial two-year commitment, in consideration that the first year is a trial year for both parties, with subsequent year(s) taking on more responsibilities as a farming partner, or fully as a farming/business partner.
Living on the farm is a requirement, and year-round housing and utilities is a component of the compensation. Owner lives off-farm. Partners/spouses welcome.
TO APPLY: To start the process, please email a resumé and a letter of interest stating why a farm and situation like Many Forks Farm could be a fit. Contact: Sharon Wyrrick @ firstname.lastname@example.org
